4 killed in truck-auto collision on Decatur street
DECATUR, Ill. (AP) - Four people were killed in a collision in Decatur between a car and a semi-trailer truck early Monday, according to authorities in central Illinois.
Six people were riding in the auto when it collided with the truck at an intersection. Macon County coroner Michael E. Day identified the victims and Shonez Harper, 23, Keithsah C.S. Bowman, 20, Brittany King, 19, and Armani Cooper, 23, all of Decatur. All died from injuries ranging from 'œtraumatic arrest'ť to internal and head trauma, Day said.
A fifth passenger was hospitalized, however his identity and condition isn't known, police said. The driver of the truck wasn't injured.
The semi was heading north on Water Street and the car was traveling east on Grand Avenue and collided at the intersection controlled by traffic lights, said Decatur Police Lt. Jon D. Quehl.
Police said their Fatal Accident Investigation Team is continuing to probe and reconstruct what happened.
