Andersson extends deal as Sweden coach through 2024

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Sweden coach Janne Andersson has signed a contract extension through to the European Championship in 2024.

Andersson took over as coach in 2016 and led Sweden to the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Cup - his only major tournament in charge so far.

Sweden also qualified for Euro 2020 under Andersson. That tournament has been pushed back a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

'œThe successes and achievements that Janne and his staff have achieved speak for themselves,'ť said HÃ¥kan Sjöstrand, secretary general of the Swedish Football Association.

'œJanne also has a leadership that fits well with us at the federation. We always strive for continuity and believe that the long-term and stability we now get will be good for our national team activities.'ť
