Elgin distributing face masks to seniors after donation

Elgin seniors who need a face mask can contact Senior Services Associates Inc., which is distributing donated face masks on behalf of the city.

Mayor David Kaptain secured a donation of 4,800 face masks through the U.S. Conference of Mayor's "masks for mayors" program. Police officers and firefighters made the delivery to Senior Services Associates Inc. on Tuesday.

"We are very excited to have the ability to provide masks to the seniors we serve and we thank the city of Elgin for this caring donation," said Minnie Vasquez, activity director at Senior Services Associates.

Police and fire department representatives also delivered face masks in person to some Elgin residents who requested assistance.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors' masks are being distributed to mayors on a first-come, first-served basis. The Elgin masks were donated by the company Bella+Canvas.

If you or a senior you know is in need of a mask, call Senior Service Associates Inc. at (847) 741-0404.
