Lincolnshire names 2019 Officer of the Year

The Lincolnshire Police Department recently named Detective Kimberly Rafalowitz as the 2019 Officer of the Year.

Rafalowitz began her career in 2017 as a patrol officer and then transferred to the detective division in the fall of 2018.

In 2019, Rafalowitz was instrumental in the apprehension of two individuals involved in an armed robbery.

In addition to her Lincolnshire cases, Rafalowitz is assigned to two specialized task forces requiring her to prioritize and balance a number of responsibilities, which she does seamlessly.

Last year, she was the featured presenter at a number of community events and spoke on topics such as identity theft, ruse burglaries, and crimes specific to elderly individuals.

Aside from her work as an investigator, Rafalowitz conducts the yearly coordination of the department's volunteer Cops and Kids holiday program with the Vernon Hills Police Department.

"Detective Rafalowitz is truly a dedicated professional who works tirelessly for the Lincolnshire community," Chief of Police Joseph Leonas said.

Leonas presented Rafalowitz with prestigious award n May 14 in conjunction with National Police Week, which honors the service and sacrifice of local, state, and federal law enforcement officers.
