Geneva Unit District 304 board taking applications to fill vacancy

The Geneva Unit District 304 board is accepting applications to fill a recent vacancy. The individual selected will serve on the school board from the date of appointment until April 2021.

Board member Mark Grosso, who recently submitted his resignation, has served on the board since 2009, and the district is grateful for his many years of volunteer service to its students and schools. In his resignation letter, Grosso stated, "It has been an honor to have worked with outstanding board members, superintendent, and staff."

Applicants for the board vacancy must be, on the date of election or appointment, a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, a resident of Illinois and the school district for at least one year, and a registered voter. Reasons that make an individual ineligible for Board membership include holding an incompatible office and certain types of state or federal employment. A child sex offender, as defined in state law, is ineligible for board membership.

Applicants for this volunteer opportunity to serve the community shall show familiarity with the board's policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of the board and a board member. Information about board duties and policies are available in Section 2 of the District 304 board policy manual.

Applicants must be available for regular meetings which typically occur on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Additional special meetings will occur throughout the year. Board members also serve as liaisons and members on various committees and task forces, and take part in ongoing professional development.

Applicants should email their resume to board@geneva304.org and also fill out the online application available at this link no later than 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 29. Interviews will be conducted remotely in the evenings during the week of June 8.

Please be advised that any documents you submit to the district in conjunction with this process may become public record. In addition, if you are appointed to the board, you will be required to file a Statement of Economic Interest with the Kane County Clerk's office.
