Yes, elected to lead
As lifelong Illinois residents who love the area we live and work in, it has been disheartening watching friends flee Illinois for new opportunities in thriving, well-managed states. So it was encouraging when we read Gov. Pritzker's quote in the Daily Herald chastising elected officials who are in favor of opening up the state's economy, saying "You weren't elected to do what's easy, you were elected to do what's right."
We are, therefore, anxiously waiting to watch the governor put his statement to work on pension reform, a Fair Map Amendment, a balanced budget and ethics reform among other issues.
