Clubhouse Chatter: What sports documentary would you like to see developed?
What our Sports staff has to say while waiting for the games to resume.
I'd love to see a sports documentary about the great Ray Meyer DePaul men's basketball teams of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Mark Aguirre, Terry Cummings, Clyde Bradshaw ... a deep dive on one of the best sports memories from my childhood would be must-see TV.

The Blackhawks winning three Stanley Cups in six years certainly warrants a documentary series. It would have to be on an outlet besides ESPN, which has some serious hockey hate.

I'd like to see a behind-the-scenes, no-holds-barred documentary about Mike Tyson. I think he's one of the more interesting sports characters of the last 50 years. Watching him battle his inner demons publicly was as compelling as any of his legendary bouts.

A documentary on Secretariat's historic run to the 1973 Triple Crown would be fun. It could even include the first race of his career, an uneventful fourth-place finish at Aqueduct and his first race after the Belmont Stakes triumph when he won at Arlington Park. I'd love to see the story on why he chose our local oval for that very next start after becoming the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years.

Must-see TV would be a documentary on women's Roller Derby, which started in Chicago. A focal point would be the 1960s and 1970s and Joanie Weston of the San Francisco Bay Area Bombers. Her battles with Ann Calvello were legendary. (Weston didn't have much use for Margie Laszlo either.) The women were much more entertaining than the men and had better scrums (to put it mildly).
