Press briefings leave us confused

So, here we are, just heard the news from the governor that the date to open things up in Illinois may be in mid-June. Seriously? The daily press briefings have not only become confusing to the public, but the press as well.

With all due respect to you, Gov. Pritzker, your report was very ambiguous. You talked in circles, using new terms like "metrics" to explain statistics, science, medicine, social distancing and more. We are confused as citizens of Illinois where you are headed with all your information.

We all heard you say that the Illinois Municipal League, the lobbying body for Municipalities and Counties, would like to divide the state into 11 sections to help the restart of the economy, as certain parts of Illinois could move quicker.

You decided to stick with just four sections. Which means a slower, corporal punishment-type of recovery. The IML has to step up its game and push the law of home rule.

You also said that churches are "breaking the law" by having their congregations gather. Churches see those "rules" (not laws) as being discriminating when we compare to the number of people who can be in Walmart or Home Depot at the same time.

So, here we are, wondering what the heck is going on? You have a tough job, a lot on your mind with so much to think and worry about.

You have an entire state to run. While you keep our churches and places of faith closed, I think this requires divine intervention for all of us at this point.

We will pray for you.
