Lombard blood drive seeks donors

The latest village of Lombard blood drive in the On Call Hero series is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at 24 Yorktown Center near the intersection of Highland Avenue and 22nd Street.

The blood drive, hosted by Versiti Blood Center of Illinois, is considered essential activity and exempt from the stay-at-home order in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Social distancing and sanitizing measures will be in place to protect donor safety.

Donors so far in the On Call Hero events have donated 237 pints in six weeks, equating to helping save more than 700 lives.

Healthy donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment by visiting versiti.org/IL and searching for Lombard or by emailing Carol Bauer at BauerC@villageoflombard.org. For details, call (847) 305-9998.

Future blood drives at Yorktown Center are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 20 and May 27.
