Aurora Downtown's 'Carryout Days' celebrates restaurants in May

Restaurants in downtown Aurora are celebrating "Carryout Days" every Wednesday and Friday throughout May. The promotion is spearheaded by Aurora Downtown, the nonprofit that works with business and property owners in downtown's Special Service Area #One.

"Carryout Days" will promote discounts and specials featured at several downtown restaurants including 10- to 20-percent off deals, special menu items, opportunities to donate meals to first responders, and more.

"We've been brainstorming ways to help restaurants since we made the decision to reschedule the Food Truck Festival from May 1 to Oct. 2. We're hoping that Carryout Days encourages everyone to support downtown restaurants, and gives them a much needed boost," said Marissa Amoni, manager of Aurora Downtown.

Amoni said that the restaurant community in downtown has done a great job at adjusting to COVID-19 restrictions such as offering curbside pickup and adjusting their hours and menus.

Aurora Downtown's events committee has been meeting virtually to brainstorm and reinvent many of the planned events for the spring and early summer.

"We're excited to celebrate our restaurants this month, and we're looking forward to announcing additional events that support retail and nonprofits," Amoni said.
