Hypocrisy on abuse

Ah, the double standard.

In the summer of 2018 Dr. Christine Blasey Ford accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of inappropriate sexual behavior when they were teenagers 36 years prior. In response, then-6th Congressional district candidate Sean Casten stated on his "Sean Casten for Congress" Facebook page on Sept. 27, 2018, that she showed "incredible courage" and that "there must be an FBI investigation." On Oct. 6, 2018, Casten released a statement that Senate Republicans "do not care about credible accusations of sexual assault or respect survivors of sexual trauma who ... deserve to be heard."

In March 2020, Tara Reade accused presidential candidate Joe Biden of inappropriate sexual advances when she worked in his office 27 years prior. In response, Sixth Congressional District Rep. Sean Casten has said nothing.

This moral double standard reveals a character flaw in Rep. Casten, and I don't want him claiming to represent me in Congress. Jeanne Ives would be a far better representative for the Sixth District, and that is why I will vote for her for Congress in November.
