Paint job on Gurnee's new water tower to finish this month

Gurnee's newest water tower will be the first in the village to bear Gurnee's new logo when crews are finished with painting in the next few weeks, according to the village Friday. The tower is on village-owned land at 1525 Knowles Road, near Rollins Road. The final color will be blue with a white band to match the village's other water towers. Once the painting is complete, the tower interior will be sterilized, filled and tested. The village is using a $5.5 million low-interest loan from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency to help pay for the project.
