Lake County judge tests positive for COVID-19
A Lake County judge who presided over hearings at the Waukegan courthouse as recently as Friday has tested positive for COVID-19, Chief Judge Diane E. Winter announced Wednesday.
The identity of the judge who tested positive was not revealed.
Because of the positive test, several people from many county offices are in self-quarantine and seeking testing, according to Winter's announcement. In addition, all spaces that the judge occupied have received a deep clean.
Winter said daily bond court is essential to address those recently charged. Many cases are being handled remotely to minimize the number of people in the courthouse.
Everyone in the courthouse has been required to wear masks and to use social distancing when in the building.
