Accountability based on scientific facts

Mr. Kreamer's focus in his April 20 letter to the editor "Ives was right to focus on personal responsibility" is personal responsibility. Sean Casten exhibits personal responsibility in his fact-based, scientific approach to accountability for his constituents.

I have attended Sean Casten's town halls since his election as the 6th Congressional District representative. Sean has held 19 town halls, sometimes six in one day, answering constituents' questions for six-plus hours. Sean educates his constituents by factually framing issues and responses to questions in the question/answer portion of his town halls.

A standout town hall followed the strike on Qasem Soleimani. Sean presented a background of Iranian politics to give constituents a better understanding of alliances in the Middle East and what to expect in the coming months regarding possible retaliation by Iran.

Mr. Kreamer alludes to Sean Casten forgiving student loan debt. H.R. 6201 does not forgive this debt. It states alternatives to paying down debt through private education loans whereby borrowers may be eligible to refinance at lower rates.

This is a responsible approach to assisting many students who find themselves buried under immense debt.

Mr. Kreamer commented on Sean recommending the media not cover the task force briefings. Task forces were tested after the administration's comments on ingesting bleach to treat COVID-19.

As of April 25, 19 persons had been treated at New York hospitals for ingesting bleach. An emergency hotline in Maryland received over 100 calls. Lysol brand issued a statement warning against ingesting their products. Luckily there were no deaths.

Sean Casten takes personal responsibility for District 6. Responsibility, accountability are part of his moral character. As Sean has said, "At the end of the day, I think people are generally motivated by truth than lies." I am.
