Deer Park hailed by U.S. EPA as a Green Power partner

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has designated Deer Park as a Green Power partner community in recognition of the village's dedication to using 100% renewable energy for its electric aggregation program. Officials said the EPA placed Deer Park ninth of all U.S. towns in terms of percentage green energy versus total power consumed. About 65% of the village's total power usage is derived from renewable energy certificates from Midwest wind generation. "We're happy to support clean energy generation as part of our sustainability plan," said Deer Park Village President Dale Sands.
