Highland Park eliminates vehicle stickers for year
The Highland Park City Council on Monday eliminated vehicle sticker sales, enforcement, and associated fees and penalties, effective immediately, to provide relief to residents and business owners.
The cost per passenger vehicle sticker was $55, with a late fee of $10. Those who already purchased stickers will not be reimbursed.
The city's approved fiscal year 2020 budget anticipated $1.1 million in annual revenue from sticker sales. The lost revenues are proposed to be replaced with a comparable property tax increase. The city also has temporarily suspended sales and citations for parking permits, dog licenses, and vehicle and motorcycle stickers and has suspended late fees and penalties for water bills, business taxes and parking tickets.
