Clubhouse Chatter: Who we see as the starting QB for the Bears

What our Sports staff has to say while waiting for the games to resume.

It might be too late now since he's been linked to the Saints, but Jameis Winston was available. Why not go for the most adventurous option?"

Let's give Nick Foles, a Super Bowl MVP QB, a crack at it right away. If he is sharp out of the gate, you have your answer. If not, you've got Mitch ready to make amends, and he may be much more relaxed and comfortable knowing he wasn't a factor if the team did get off to a slow start behind Foles.

- John Leusch

Let's find out by giving Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles equal opportunities in the preseason. Trubisky gets the first half in Game 1; Foles plays the second, and vice versa in Game 2. In Game 3, they alternate quarters. By then you ought to have a clear winner. Many people just want to hand the job to Foles, but Trubisky can be a dangerous quarterback if he's allowed to scramble and makes plays outside the pocket. I believe he struggled mightily last season for three reasons: 1) The Bears didn't allow him to improvise, 2) He held a clipboard during preseason, 3) He was treated with kid gloves. It's the NFL. Step up or go home. Should be a fascinating couple of months.

Feels wrong to say this but I'll give Mitch Trubisky one more chance. Let him run more, use his legs to make plays. Have a quicker hook if he struggles to turn things over to Nick Foles. And those struggles could be as early as training camp. If he's not getting it done then, go to Foles.

- John Lemon

Bob Avellini? How about Bobby Douglass? A no-brainer, to me at least. Mitch hasn't done squat to gain our confidence. Nick Foles won a Super Bowl three seasons ago. Duh.

- John Radtke

That's easy. Nick Foles. He led a team to a Super Bowl title. Meanwhile, Mitch Trubisky is not good at football. The players know who's who. They'll follow Foles.
