Garage fire damages two Lombard homes

Lombard Fire Department officials said a blaze that started inside a detached garage late Friday spread to two nearby houses and caused more than $75,000 in damage.

The fire was reported at 9:13 p.m. on the 900 block of East School Street. It took less than 30 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters were on scene for more than an hour and half performing salvage work and checking for hot spots.

The fire gutted the garage and left one of the homes uninhabitable, fire officials said.
