Open state with common-sense acts
Gov. Pritzker, please show some innovative leadership and open up parts of Illinois immediately. The entire state is under stay at home orders, while the problem is localized in a few hot spots. As proven in New York and the rest of the world, the vast majority of the mortality rates are born by those most at risk; the elderly and infirm. Emphasize to them that they are still at risk and must use all the necessary precautions for the foreseeable future.
For the rest, open up the parks, the golf courses and all businesses that can practice social distancing. Limit restaurant capacities to half of their licensed occupancy. 50% capacity for buses and trains. Institute one-way traffic patterns in all retail establishments. Continue to ban large public gatherings.
Millions of healthy lives are being financially ruined under the current decree. The daily infected and death rates have been very constant for the last two weeks. To now say we won't peak for another 30 days sounds disingenuous. With one or two exceptions, the hospitals have ample capacity to handle the ongoing infections. Be a leader and lead us forward.
