Round Lake Area Memorial Day parade canceled

The annual Round Lake Area Memorial Day parade has been canceled due to the extension of the state's stay-at-home and social distancing safety precautions.

Veterans and the Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce said the decision was best for those participating and the crowd that gathers along the route.

In past years, the parade started with a ceremony at the American Legion post in Round Lake Park, marched to the Round Lake Memorial at Cedar Lake Road and Route 134 and ended at the Round Lake Beach Memorial.

The chamber took over organizing the parade in 2009 in partnership with the American Legion and villages of Hainesville, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Heights and Round Lake Park.
