Carillon concerts planned to honor health care workers, first responders
The Millennium Carillon in Naperville is set to begin a series of special concerts and lighting to honor health care workers and first responders during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 30-minute concerts featuring patriotic tunes and carillon classics are scheduled for noon on Wednesdays throughout May. Moser Tower, the home of the carillon, will be lit in blue in health care workers' and first responders' honor.
The fact the bells of the carillon can be heard from afar facilitates social distancing, Naperville City Carillonneur Tim Sleep said in news release, and the special concerts are intended for a dispersed audience.
Following current health guidelines related to COVID-19, concertgoers cannot gather in groups on Rotary Hill to listen to the concerts, but are asked to listen while walking along the Riverwalk.
