Letter on health care stokes Americans' fears

It is always interesting reading the "Your Views" column in the Daily Herald. One of the recent letters was by Maggie Trevor. Ms. Trevor is the Democratic candidate running against Rep. Tom Morrison for the House seat in the 54th District.

I agree with Ms. Trevor that there are 28 million Americans living without health insurance. They are living without insurance because they chose not to enroll in the Obama exchanges, not because obstacles were deliberately erected by the Trump administration

Like most Democratic politicians, Ms. Trevor stokes fear among Americans by implying that President Trump by not re-opening the enrollment period for a special enrollment will let Americans be buried under the full weight of medical bills related to COVID 19. Ms. Trevor also said millions would not get tested and would present a strain on our health care system and put hospitals at risk of going out of business.

President Trump in one of his daily coronavirus updates was asked about the 28 million uninsured and publicly said the government would reimburse hospital and doctors for any treatment they received for COVID-19.

Everything in Ms. Trevor's article was a mere political statement about all the doomsday things that will happen because President Trump did not reopen the exchanges. This whole article was a pitch for universal healthcare in sheep's clothing
