Lake County police memorial postponed

The Lake County sheriff's office is postponing the annual Lake County Police Memorial due to continued COVID-19 concerns, officials said Monday.

The annual event, scheduled to take place in May, will be postponed until the late summer or early fall.

"While it is disappointing we have to postpone the Annual Lake County Police Memorial, it is a step we can take to avoid spreading COVID-19 at a large gathering," Sheriff John Idleburg said in a news release. "Those killed in the line-of-duty deserve our respect, gratitude, and recognition, so we will announce a new date for late summer or early fall."
