Refusing to accept facts will not help
For our country to move forward for the health and safety of all American citizens, the steps we take must be based on current realities. Recently, two hardworking members of the Trump Administration's Department of Health and Human Services, Ann Maxwell and Christi Grimm, diligently contacted administrators at more than 300 hospitals across 46 states to gather information on the challenges that hospitals are facing including shortages of supplies, tests and equipment. On April 6, they released a report summarizing this data. This report did not criticize the Trump administration in any way.
However, for some reason, Trump felt that the data in the report made him look bad. So he chose to dismiss the report. He called the report "wrong" and claimed that it was politically motivated. Refusing to accept the truth does not change the facts. If our next steps are not based on reality, then our country will continue to suffer many more unnecessary deaths and increasing economic hardship. It is impossible to move forward effectively without accepting reality. Sticking one's fingers in one's ears is never an effective strategy for finding positive solutions. Reality is reality.
