Smoldering compost bin sparks Naperville house fire

A compost bin that apparently was placed too close to a house sparked a fire Thursday morning on the 900 block of Rock Spring Road in Naperville, authorities said.

Firefighters responded at 11:30 a.m. and found moke coming from the west side of the house. All of the residents were safely outside before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters said strong winds may have contributed to the compost's starting to smolder.

No one was injured.
