Elk Grove Village bar and grill offers free meals

At Work Sports Bar & Grill in Elk Grove Village is thanking its customers with free meals to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday, owner Mike Patel said his establishment began serving a special hot meal free to individuals, with a limit of four per family.

The offer is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through May 1.

"This is really a wonderful gesture for the community," said Christine Bryla, a friend of Patel.

Customers can call in an order at (847) 871-9490 or visit the location at 1190 E. Higgins Road in Elk Grove Village and use the code "hot food."

Patel's message on his Facebook page reads: "We are in this together. Please be mindful of others in need during this difficult time. Stay healthy and well from your friends at 'At Work and Sports Bar and Grill.'"

In accordance with government guidelines, only curbside takeout service is available.
