St. Charles police participating in birthday parades

St. Charles police are offering to participate in birthday parades for children stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

The department has been receiving an increasing number of requests to drive by the homes of kids who are unable to have normal birthday parties with their friends and family.

"If we are able to contribute bringing a little bit of happiness to these kids during these unprecedented times, we want to do what we can," Cmdr. Rich Clark said. "We are a community and are dealing with this together."

Residents seeking officers' participation in a birthday parade are asked to contact Clark at (630) 377-4435 with the time, location and contact information. If calls for service allow, he says, "we will make our best effort to join in."
