Sunrise of Naperville North resident enjoys delicious 103rd birthday!

Duane Cutting, a resident at senior living community Sunrise of Naperville North, survived the flu pandemic as a baby in 1918. He lived through the Great Depression and fought in World War II.

So for his 103rd birthday on Thursday, April 9, the community knew they needed to celebrate big. But as everyone strives to be as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, a traditional party wasn't an option.

After a bit of research, the community realized that there was something else turning 103 this year that is near and dear to Duane's heart - Omaha Steaks.

"I've always been a meat-eater," says Duane. The community got in touch with Omaha Steaks, who offered to send Duane whatever meal he wanted for his birthday! Duane selected a rib-eye and some potatoes au gratin.

For his big day, the Sunrise team came together (while standing 6 feet apart or more) to create a great party atmosphere for Duane, complete with balloons, banners, and photos. He enjoyed a delicious meal and champagne, as well as a personalized birthday greeting from Omaha Steaks.

"I don't know what I did to deserve this party," he said, "but I am glad I was invited."

Happy birthday to Duane!
