Barrington area groups partner to help nonprofits

Submitted by Village of Barrington

The Barrington Area Community Foundation and the Barrington Area United Way are announcing a new partnership to create the Barrington Area COVID Response Fund.

The Barrington Area Community Foundation and Barrington Area United Way, along with several member organizations from the Healthier Barrington Coalition, such as the Barrington Area Development Council, the Barrington Area Ministerial Association and others, are responding to the needs of the area's not-for-profit organizations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grants from the fund will be prioritized for not-for-profit organizations serving the Barrington area, providing vital basic needs, services and resources to disproportionately impacted individuals and families, especially within vulnerable populations.

Additionally, the fund will support not-for-profit organizations that are experiencing financial hardship or providing increased support services to individuals and families not qualified for coverage by other avenues.

The Barrington Area Community Foundation board of directors has approved a special $100,000 challenge grant that will match dollar for dollar donations made to the Barrington Area COVID Response Fund. Donations for this fund are accepted at www.bauw.org.
