Criticisms are justified

This is in answer to a letter to the editor in the March 30 Daily Herald. The individual criticizes Gov. Pritzker, who she claims is engaged in a personal war with President Trump and says Pritzker "should shut up and let the president do his job."

Gov. Pritzker and the governors of New York, California, Michigan and Washington, among others, are taking the lead in protecting their citizens, which is the first responsibility of a governor. They criticize the president who has failed and continues to fail to protect the citizens of the entire country, which is his first responsibility. The failure of the president to first acknowledge the danger of the virus and then the failure to warn the public and finally his efforts to shift the entire blame to the governors of the various states is inexcusable. The criticisms are entirely justified.
