Aurora Methodists aid Marie Wilkinson food pantry

Congregants of Flowing Forth United Methodist Church in Aurora helped distribute food boxes Saturday, April 4, to clients at Marie Wilkinson food pantry in Aurora.

The Rev. Derek Rogers, Flowing Forth pastor, said 16 volunteers packed and gave boxes to about 225 families during a drive-through distribution.

According to Rogers, "This shows members of our church active as the hands and feet of Jesus, loving and serving our neighbors who are in dire need of food and support during this crisis. Each person who served did so out of their own willingness, knowing the risks associated with it. They took their own precautions and abided by added precautions put in place by the food pantry director and staff.

"This is an unfolding situation and requires all of us to stay flexible as we continue to live into this ever changing reality while doing our best to continue to be the church."

During the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Flowing Forth broadcasts a prerecorded worship service available from late Saturday on the church website.

On March 16, Flowing Forth canceled all in-person worship services regularly held at Aurora Christian School, 2255 Sullivan Road in Aurora, to comply with local to national pandemic guidelines.
