South Barrington Garden Club brings beauty to the community

The South Barrington Garden Club was founded in 1993 by a group of five South Barrington residents.

Today, its 50 members are actively involved in the club's annual fundraiser, held in November, which enables them to donate funds and members' time to many worthy beautification projects in the surrounding area.

Proceeds from the fundraiser go to scholarships for landscape/environmental majors, SMART Farm, internships for Stillman Nature Center, youth education and the newly planted Butterfly Garden/Waystation.

The butterfly garden at the South Barrington Conservancy Park, off Bartlett Road, is open to the public. There is also a "Showcase" garden that was planted by the club and community members.

Meetings of the South Barrington Garden Club are held the first Thursday of each month, year-round, at the South Barrington Tennis Club, 3 Tennis Club Lane, in South Barrington.

Meetings consist of educational speakers, demonstrations, hands-on workshops and bus trips to points of interest in the surrounding area. Guests and new members are welcome.
