If you don't need check, help those who do
With the federal government about to send out checks to most individuals without much of a means test, many people will receive checks but have not seen a loss in income.
Some people continue to work or their employers have continued to pay them, yet they may receive the same check as those that have lost all of their income. (Think restaurant employees and many others.) If you are in that earning category, how about passing your check on to a local charity such as a food pantry, crisis center, homeless shelter operation, etc.?
This is a one-shot opportunity to give when you already have more than many in great need. Our charitable institutions are doing a great job. Just pick one.
