District 300 Food Pantry adjusting amid coronavirus concerns
The District 300 Food Pantry is adjusting its distribution process to limit exposure during the coronavirus pandemic.
Beginning this weekend, the pantry will provide drive-by services from 9 a.m. to noon every other Saturday until further notice, according to the Algonquin-based school district. Run by volunteers, the school-based food pantry aims to provide food assistance to students and their families in need.
Eligible families are asked to line up no earlier than 8:30 a.m. outside Carpentersville Middle School, 100 Cleveland Ave., near Door 20. They will have to follow the traffic pattern as instructed, remain in their vehicles and make sure their trunks are empty to volunteers can easily load the food.
Anyone who does not feel well or who has a sick family member is urged to send a proxy rather than attending the distribution themselves, officials said.
Inclement weather may delay the distribution hours this Saturday, in which case an additional notice will be sent out Friday evening.
