Elmhurst loosens city regulations

Elmhurst Mayor Steve Morley has issued an executive order including several changes to local regulations to lessen the hardships related to the spread of COVID-19. The order provides the following:

• Elmhurst Hospital, in partnership with Elmhurst Unit District 205, can establish an emergency day care facility at Jackson Elementary for children of hospital staff members.

• Delinquent charges and disconnections of city-provided services are temporarily suspended.

• The deadline to pay for city vehicle stickers is extended to June 1.

• Liquor regulations within the city code are temporarily suspended to allow retail sales of packaged beer, wine and liquor for off-premise consumption during regular hours of licensed businesses.

• Issuance of solicitor permits and existing solicitor permits are temporarily suspended; anyone who encounters a solicitor is asked to contact Elmhurst police.
