Updates on Bartlett Public Library District Closure and eCards
The Bartlett Public Library District's closure will follow the Governor's recommendations as well as School District U-46's lead for when to open per BPLD's Pandemic Policy & Procedure document. The building will be closed through April 7, 2020 with a tentative reopen date of April 8, 2020.
For the latest Library news, check www.bartlettlibrary.org or check out the Library's social media sites. Patrons may also sign up for the Library's eNewsletter for information. To sign up, head to the Library's website, scroll to the bottom of the screen and hit the button that says "Subscribe to our eNewsletters." From there, customizable options are available.
Since the Library building is closed, BPLD patrons may sign up for an eCard to gain access to online services. If patrons already have a physical card, they will not be able to sign up for an eCard. Instead, they can simply use their physical card to gain access to online resources. Once the Library reopens, the eCards will expire. Patrons will need to then come into the Library in order to get a new card.
Here are more important changes the public needs to be aware of while the building is closed:
• During this time, the book drop will be closed, meaning patrons will not be able to return Library materials. Patrons are encouraged to keep Library materials at home for now. Because of this measure, overdue fines will be forgiven when the Library reopens.
• If patrons have items on hold, they will be available to pick up for a few days when the Library reopens. If patrons place holds on items during the time the Library is closed, the orders will be processed when the building reopens and the patrons will be notified accordingly.
• Placing InterLibrary Loans (ILLs) via the online catalog has been suspended during this time.
• Maintenance staff will be doing a deep cleaning of the building while it is closed.
• Though the building will be closed, the Library's Wi-Fi will remain available. If needed, patrons may utilize this service if they are nearby the building. As far as internet access at home, patrons may check internet companies as they may provide special offers or assistance.
• The Library's services of Museum Adventure Passes and Explore More Illinois are being suspended during this time.
• When the Library reopens, staff will work to sanitize materials being checked-in.
• The Board of Trustees passed a Pandemic Response Policy & Procedures document at the Board Meeting on Monday, March 16, 2020, which outlines steps the Library will take in case of a pandemic.

It is also important to keep in mind that BPLD patrons don't have to leave homes in order to take advantage of Library offerings. There are plenty of downloadable and streaming services that allow BPLD patrons to watch TV, listen to music, read eBooks, listen to eAudiobooks and more.

Flipster
Browse digital versions of the latest issues of popular magazines to which the Library subscribes. Magazines can be downloaded to Android phones and tablets, Apple phones and tablets, and Kindle Fire tablets for offline reading anytime, anywhere.
Freegal Music
Freegal Music is a downloadable music service. All you need is your Library Card number and PIN. With access to the Sony Music Entertainment catalog, it offers hundreds of thousands of songs, over 100 genres of music and more than 50 record labels.
Hoopla
Instantly borrow free digital movies, music, eBooks and more on your smartphone, tablet and computer. Use your Library Card number and PIN to set up a Hoopla account. BPLD patrons can stream or download up to five items per month.
Libby
Libby hosts an eMedia collection featuring downloadable eAudiobooks and eBooks. All you need is your Library Card number and PIN. eBooks and eAudiobooks can be downloaded to your computer or smart device.
TumbleBook Library
TumbleBook Library is an online collection of TumbleBooks - animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book, which you can read, or have read to you.
