Naperville battery suspect requests independent autopsy of wife

A Naperville man charged with aggravated domestic battery has requested permission to have an independent autopsy and forensic examination done on his wife, who died the day after the alleged attack.

Judge Ann Celine O'Halleren Walsh Wednesday ordered the DuPage County coroner to preserve the body of 35-year-old Hongyan Yang, including not releasing it for burial or cremation, according to court documents.

Authorities say 55-year-old Alan Wang kicked Yang multiple times in a leg the evening of March 7, causing deep soft-tissue hemorrhaging. A relative called 911 around 4:50 p.m. the next day when Yang stopped breathing.

Wang's request for an independent examination says it should pay "particular attention" to "the nature and location of surgery incisions and plastic surgery the deceased elected to undergo within weeks of her death," and to chemical analysis of her blood and other bodily fluids.

Wang is free on $85,000 bond and GPS monitoring.

Walsh also gave Wang permission to contact his 23-year-old daughter but denied contact with his 8-year-old son. Wang's requests state that both children requested contact.

Wang is due to be arraigned May 4.
