Carol Stream suspends water service shut-offs
Carol Stream has temporarily suspended all water service shut-offs for unpaid utility bills during the coronavirus outbreak.
Utility customers should continue to pay their bill for the water, sewer and solid waste charges as they will be responsible for any charges accrued during the moratorium.
"The village's ability to purchase water and safely operate our system is dependent on collecting water bill payments," officials said in a news release.
Residents who are unable to pay by their due date should contact Customer Service (630) 871-6222 to help with payment options.
The village also will be suspending all nonemergency service calls and appointments and will limit contact with customers during all emergency service calls.
Residents can make online payments on the village website and use the in-person drop box in the municipal center parking lot.
In some emergency cases, water shut-offs may be required to protect health and safety.
