Naperville declares local state of emergency

The city of Naperville has declared a local state of emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, effective until April 21.

The declaration allows the city to apply for federal reimbursement for disaster expenditures if money becomes available. It also gives city leaders increased ability to adjust typical policies and procedures, such as waiving electric and water shut-offs and allowing grocery deliveries outside of standard hours.

All city buildings are closed to the public until Monday, March 30; however, city operations will continue with a modified staffing structure, including some employees working from home. Police officers and firefighters will continue to respond to all emergency situations.
