Yang Rohr to face Wehrli in November for 41st House seat
A Naperville school board member appears to have earned the Democratic Party's nomination to seek a state House seat representing the 41st District.
Janet Yang Rohr claimed 9,362 votes, or 70%, while her Democratic opponent Denika McMillen tallied 3,989 votes, or 30%, of the total in unofficial results with 52% of precincts reporting in DuPage and Will counties.
Yang Rohr, 39, of Naperville, now will prepare to square off against Naperville Republican Grant Wehrli in the Nov. 3 general election. Wehrli, who has held the seat since 2015, ran unopposed in the GOP primary.
Yang Rohr has been a member of the Naperville Unit District 203 school board since she was appointed in 2017. She works as director of global data for Morningstar, an investment data and research firm.
Yang Rohr said during the campaign that her expertise in finances and investing will help her understand and address the state's budgetary issues. She said other priorities include education, health care, women's rights and the environment.
The 41st District includes much of Naperville and Warrenville.
