Carpentersville man charged with drug-induced homicide

A 27-year-old Carpentersville man is being charged with multiple felonies in connection with the overdose death of a Huntley resident last month.

Tuesday, Illinois State Police announced Antwon D. Hawkins Jr. is charged with drug-induced homicide and a litany of other drug crimes in connection with the death of a 26-year-old Huntley man Feb. 13.

State police officials said investigation into the Huntley man's death led them to Hawkins, who was arrested five days later after seizing cocaine, crack cocaine and ecstasy from Hawkins. He was being held at the McHenry County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail.

Results from toxicology testing on the Huntley man determined that he had died from an overdose of drugs that police believe were supplied by Hawkins. Hawkins was served the additional charges while in jail, state police said. No new bond amount was released.
