Post Office branch committed to service

I would like to take the opportunity to respond to a recent letter to the editor concerning Post Office service issues in Arlington Heights.

Members of our community voiced their concerns about mail being incorrectly delivered or lost and the lack of response from the Postal Service. As with any service organization, quality service is vital. We are always concerned when a customer is not satisfied with the way we provide a service. I assure you our goal is to provide all of our customers with top quality service at all times.

Since the airing of the service issues, the Postal Service has made a major commitment to improve performance. We have established local area and district management teams and tasked coordinators to review all internal and external processes. We will be reaching out to the residents to provide a better avenue of communication and a quicker response.

To begin developing better communications, the Arlington Heights Post Office, 909 W. Euclid Ave., will hold a Customer Appreciation Event on Thursday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Customers will have the opportunity to meet the postmaster at a "Meet and Greet" during the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know more citizens of our community.

The entire staff at the Arlington Heights Post Office is truly disappointed that we are not providing our community good service. We will make extended efforts to improve upon our performance, as we value your business and support.

Emmanuel Thomas III, Postmaster

Arlington Heights
