YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago closing all facilities
The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago will temporarily close all of its facilities starting Tuesday.
The shutdown includes the 17 membership and program centers, five overnight camps, and dozens of early childhood extension sites in Chicago and across the suburbs. A tentative date to reopen is Monday, March 30.
In the meantime, YMCA staff are developing innovative ways to keep the Y available to its members and program participants during the temporary closure. The association is working to prepare a collection of online resources to assist parents in keeping their children learning, and families active. In the coming days, the Y will have fitness, wellness, and educational programming available on its website and YouTube channel to keep members engaged.
The Y is asking members to continue to check their emails, ymcachicago.org, and the Y Facebook page regularly as it will communicate any updates through these channels in a timely manner to ensure Y families have the best information to plan accordingly.
