Hoffman Estates cancels nonessential meetings, events

The village of Hoffman Estates has canceled all nonessential village meetings, events and tours through April 30 due to precautions being taken against spread of the coronavirus.

Canceled events may be rescheduled.

The decision does not affect scheduled meetings of the village board or its six standing committees. Statutory bodies, which include the Fire and Police Commission and the Planning and Zoning Commission, may continue to meet if there is specific business to be conducted.

Village hall will remain open, including as an early voting location through Monday, March 16. But visits should be limited to essential business that cannot be conducted by other means, such as online bill payment or the drive-through drop boxes there, at the police station, and at fire stations 23 and 24.

While the village is still processing permits and completing inspections, residents are encouraged to cancel if someone in the home is sick.
