Candidate's actions don't fit ethics rhetoric

State Rep. Skillicorn needs to look in a mirror before talking about ethics reform. He states that his many votes while he was not present was a mistake and that the rules and protocols should be clearly defined so "mistakes" like this do not happen again.

Do our elected representatives really need to be told that they personally need to cast votes representing us; that they need to be in possession of their personal voting key and not give it to someone else or leave it at the legislative desk? Is he the type of person who believes that if there is no clear rule stating something is wrong is permission to do whatever he wants? It certainly seems so.

Also, I would like to know if Mr. Skillicorn received pay and reimbursement for his "mistake." Even if payment is allowed, the proper thing to do is refuse the pay and reimbursements. In other words, give the taxpayers their money back. We earned our money, he obviously did not.

Does ethics reform need to happen in Springfield? It surely does, but an unethical creature such as Mr. Skillicorn is not the face of ethics reform. Nor should he represent the 66th state legislative district.
