Cops, FBI face off in Hockey Classic March 14 in Bensenville
The Chicago Police Department will square off against the Chicago FBI in the ninth annual Law Enforcement Hockey Classic at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Edge Ice Arena, 735 E. Jefferson St., Bensenville.
The game will benefit Honor Flight Chicago, which honors war veterans with a one-of-a-kind journey to Washington, D.C., to thank them for their service.
The one-day trip brings veterans to the memorials throughout the city with hundreds of volunteers extending gratitude along the way.
The family friendly hockey game also will include raffle baskets, spin-to-win prize wheel, chuck-a-puck and more.
A silent auction will feature Chicago Blackhawks tickets, White Sox tickets, signed sports memorabilia, Sanibel Island Florida getaway, Vrooman Mansion B & B getaway, Classic Rock Package featuring Foghat tickets and memorabilia, vintage Korean War women's leather bomber jacket, flight to Washington D.C. to be a DC Guardian, and more.
All proceeds go directly toward the cost of flying veterans to Washington, D.C.
Three local veterans will be honored at the event: Richard Rung, World War II; Robert Machon, Korean War; and Thomas Stroessner, Vietnam War.
Special guests include Chicago Blackhawks alum Brandon Bollig, the Chicago Blackhawks Ice Crew and Fox 32 news anchor Cory McPherrin.
Advance tickets are $25 or $15 for children 12 and younger. Tickets are $30 at the door.
