Honor Flights canceled nationwide
The national Honor Flight Network, which consists of 125 hubs that arrange trips for veterans to Washington D.C., will postpone all trips through April 30.
The decision was made because the vast majority of veterans are in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's high-risk category for infection from coronavirus, the organization said in a Facebook post early Wednesday afternoon. The extension will continue beyond April 30 if need be, the post said.
On a related note, Lake County Honor Flight No. 18, which had been scheduled for April will be rescheduled. The local group said it was disappointed but can't risk the health and well-being of veterans. Visit https://www.honorflight.org/regional-honor-flight-hubs/ for local information.
