Elk Grove offering first Public Works Citizen Academy

The Elk Grove Village Public Works Department is accepting application for the village's first Public Works Citizen Academy.

Participants will tour the new James Paul Petri Public Works Facility and learn about all of the public works department activities, including utilities, streets, land and forestry, fleet, building, and engineering. Attendees also will receive hands-on demonstrations of department equipment, learn about capital projects, be introduced to the department's use of technology.

Classes begin April 22 and will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for four consecutive Wednesdays, as well as an optional field trip at 1 p.m. Friday, May 8.

To sign up for the academy, complete an application and waiver form available on the village's website, www.elkgrove.org. Participants must be at least 18.
