Celebrate Youth Art Month with 'Young Blood' exhibit, Poetry Slam

The David Adler Music and Art Center is pleased to partner with the village of Libertyville for the "Young Blood" youth art exhibition and open mic night.

"Young Blood" will feature the work of artists younger than age 19 and is part of National Youth Art Month.

Participating artists hail from Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Lake Villa, Gurnee, Beach Park and Round Lake, and range in age from 5-18.

Join young storytellers and poets for a spoken word and poetry slam from 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 13. Celebrate visual artists at the Adler Center's pop-up art show from 2:30-4 p.m. Sunday, March 15.

The open mic and pop-up art show are free and open to all Fine Arts Month participants, families, and community members.

"This is the second year we've invited performance artists to participate in the Adler Center's youth art exhibition," exhibitions coordinator Beth McKenna said, "but the first time the spoken word artists have had their own event. We encourage the community to come celebrate our young artists and writers."

See the "Young Blood" exhibition on display at the Adler Center March 11-18. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

The David Adler Music and Arts Center is at 1700 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.
