Town hall meeting Wednesday on Libertyville sales-tax referendum
Libertyville officials will host a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday to present information and answer questions about the March 17 referendum seeking voter approval to enact a 1% local sales tax.
The meeting will take place at the Libertyville Civic Center, 135 W. Church St.
Officials say the tax would generate about $2 million a year to fund road improvement and maintenance projects and other infrastructure needs. If approved, village officials say they will rescind the 1% Places for Eating tax in place since 2016.
The local sales tax would not apply to medicines, titled goods, such as cars and trailers, and most groceries, officials say.
